S. Schaefer, DMD
Highly accomplished since graduating from the University
of Michigan in 1991, Dr. Kendra Schaefer then earned her
D.M.D. (doctor of dental medicine) degree from the School of Dental Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, an Ivy League school and one of the most prestigious dental schools in the nation. She then completed the highly regarded, postgraduate three year prosthodontic program at the University of Connecticut, followed by a one year fellowship in Maxillofacial Prosthetics at U.C.L.A.
Licensed to practice prosthodontics in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, Dr. Schaefer was formerly appointed to faculty and hospital positions at the University of
Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine and the Hospital
of, the University of Pennsylvania, respectively. Returning to her midwest
(and Big 10) roots in 2010, she moved here to Madison
with her family. More recently,
she was appointed Chief of Prosthodontics at Madison’s Meriter Hospital and also
appointed at the University of Wisconsin (Madison) Hospital.
She exists as the only trained and certified Maxillofacial
Prosthodontist in all of Madison and Dane County.
Dr. Schaefer is an active member of the American College of Prosthodontists (ACP), the Wisconsin Section of the ACP, the American Dental
Association (ADA), Wisconsin Dental Association (WDA), Dane County Dental Society
and the Greater New York Academy of Prosthodontics (GNYAP). She participates in several leadership and study groups, including Seattle Study Club, Dane County Dental Society, Madison Dental Nexus (co-founder), Dental Divas (Director, Madison Chapter), Delta Sigma Delta dental fraternity, TEMPO Madison, and Alpha Chi Omega sorority.
A researcher and author on clinical subjects, Dr. Schaefer has also participated in a dozens of teaching courses and lectures by invitation. Her poster presentation,
"Orbital Implants in Irradiated Bone: A Retrospective
Study", won the poster presentation at the 8th International Congress on Reconstructive and Preprosthetic Surgery.
Dr. Schaefer is also interested in giving back, and has
frequently offered her professional services as a volunteer, outreaching with the ACP in Native American communities in Oklahoma and Wyoming, with Operation Smile in Nairobi,
Kenya and with Medical Ministry International in Honduras.
in Wisconsin she volunteers with Touched Twice Dental and the Wisconsin Dental Association’s Mission of Mercy.
